Possibly we have no members with any bushcrafting bow and arrows expertise so I'll start doing some research. On the web there's enough to find on bow building but I want one built with nothing but natural forest materials and using no other tools than knife and awl. I'm expecting the bow string to be the biggest problem, I'm also wondering whether I'll need glue. You'll hear from me later.

Im not sure what you mean by a bushcrafting bow?
Are you thinking of a simple wooden bow made from a tree in the woods?
If so, you need patience, at least if you want to make a bow that lasts :)
The wood needs to dry properly before making a bow.
The traditional bowyers bible (1-4) I believe is the best litterature on bow making as far as I know.

But Im no expert on the subject.
Sinew I believe is a good natural material for string making. Linen and hemp also works I think, but its not like you find that laying around int the forrest.

Maybe I should have googled "bushcraft bow" before answering.
The link I provided is for making a proper traditional bow.
I have no experience on bushcraft bows other than the green wood bows I used to make as a kid. Those usually lost their "spring" in a very short amount of time.
If you think of making an emergency bow, I think the best thing to do for the string is to simply bring some with you. It does not weigh much and does not take up much space, and can also be used as an emergency shoelace and for shelter building, clothes reapair and what not.
Just my thoughts off the top of my head.

I think the idea of that was looking at how people in aboriginal Britain may have made bows and arrows, hence the use of flint.

you tube is full of such how-to videos. Check out a site called "primitivetechnology"  and also just search YT for "primitive bow making". Paleojim and JackCrafty are the stone-knapping men to watch.  Mitch from the Alone show, is good, too

Down in this part of the world,  eg New Guinea bamboo was traditional for bow , string and arrows, bone or wood tipped.
