Hello from Denmark
on: February 17, 2017, 11:43:53 PM
My short MT related intro...
I have been using MTs since 2007 for all kinds of stuff like most people. Now a days I use them alot for seagrass restoration work which involves cutting alot of cable ties, robe, wire, chain etc. with the knife blades and wire cutters. The pliers are excellent for riping old barnacle infested gear apart for recovering of the usefull parts. The awl is a key tool for drilling holes in plastics for lanyards and securing of equipment.
In the last couple of years a Vic swisstool combined with a Vic Alox pioneer was carries daily. Both of these tools are know lost for different reasons. I originally picked out the swisstool because its easy to mod the tool locks so the blades are non-locking but still having locks on the remaining tools - this makes the swisstool legal for EDC in my country (allthough the knifelaw has change slightly now). The swisstool handle salt water nicely the same did my previous Leatherman Kick (retired with damages). My newest multitool for the job is a Gerber MP600 (basic) with an awl made from the small flat head driver. I will be interested to see how well the bead blasted finish of MP600 will tolerate salsmurfer. I really like the MP600 so far ... despite the all the love/hate there is about the "flickn" ;)

The easily modded punch/reamer

Modifying multitools to your own requirements is a great skill and there plenty of modding knowlegde on this forum !

welcome mate
Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Welcome to the forum!

I'm surprised to hear that the Kick handled salt water exposure without a problem.  I worked in shipping for a number of years and my Wingman seized up with rust after a few months.

Sounds like you have great taste in multitools though!

Thanks for the warm welcoming words  :salute:

By the way... i have no idea how salt water turned out as "salsmurfer" in first post

Def you reminded me that post of my MTs could be relevant in the intro.
So here it is... relatively limited collection wise. I mainly buy them as users and replace them when I need some new functions or when they break
The Swisstool was the first one (which got some damages)... the one I lost is on the bottom of sea.

I also love the alox SAKs.

There is a filter on this forum which changes swearwords and inappropiate words with "smurf"

This does give some funny results sometimes when one of these words is a part of a larger word ;)
