Some good news from Leatherman's Canadian Rep:

Dear Grant,

We have not been able to track down your returned Leatherman, unfortunately.  This is why we recommend insurance when shipping to us, as we cannot be responsible for items that do not reach us, and Leatherman tools tend to be high theft items.

Given your history and familiarity with Leatherman tools, however, we are going to ship you out a replacement XE6.  This is not standard procedure, and we are doing it as a courtesy considering the circumstances that brought us to this point.  If the old one surfaces, please send it back in to us.

We will be shipping it to 9A Bolton Terrace, Dartmouth, NS B2Y 2Z2.

Good luck with your website and we hope that you continue to support Leatherman products.

Best Regards,

Canadian Leatherman Repair Depot

Eastern Outdoor Sales Inc.

If anyone ever doubts the effects of dealing with a good company over one that produces cheap products, here is a good reasn.  A manufacturer that stands behind their customers will beat one that stands behind their products any day.

That is quite simply, amazing. It is beyond amazing, it is SO hard to find companies like this, and so easy to find ones who are incredibly pedantic, scared to do anything on a personal level, unwilling to do anything which isnt put down as a rule. Something like this really shows a personal touch to their business, it is very encouraging.

I agree.  I certainly didn't expect this, and I am impressed by them.  Especially considering that this is a contract agency, and one that could have easily sat back and been blame free.

Class acts all the way.  It seems Leatherman chose wisely when authorizing these folks.

We are offering them exposure here that is unbiased & honest.

It's hard to buy that kind of PR.

I appreciate the concern but my name, address and phone number are on the main part of the site!

Besides, I welcome the spammers to try and track me down... me and my BFD Security system will be waiting! :P

It looks like you can reach out your window & shake your neighbor's hand.  Is it that close?

No, he's worse... why, did I mention something about my strange brother in law who thinks a glasses case makes a perfectly good windshield wiper?

Before they went out of business, Schrade Cutlery used to replace your Uncle Henry knife for free if you ever lost it.

Tilley Endurables does something similar with their hats- if you ever wear one out they replace it.  If you ever lose it they split the cost of a new one with you.

Some companies understand that they make alot more money in the long run by supporting their customers.  Others... well...  you know how that goes!

I like that.  I have nothing to hide either.

Like it or not the things we are interested in are classed as weapons, in these modern time's there are some folks that think anything sharp or useful are murderers tools and the folks that carry them are all potential murderers!
Animal rights, pro life anti this or that - they all have nutty folks in their ranks willing to do anything, hell if they are stupid enough to think what they do then what else are they stupid enough to do. I say give them no chance.

As a security speSmurfpillst I certainly understand the concerns about posting that information online, but I am not overly concerned.  I am not important enough to be a target, and I don't have anything worth stealing.

Besides, as a mass murderer and potentially dangerous person, I'm sure people will be smart enough to not try anything against me... and if the lawyers try, well let's just say I could use the money.

The XE6 arrived today safe and sound, and with a sheath too!  I have already sent off a note to the Leatherman rep I deal with thanking her for her time and effort.

Now I am off to play with my new toy!
