Recommendations for waterproof canvas backpack/rucksack?

Anyone carry a backpack or rucksack with them every day and can recommend a good waterproof canvas pack? My job involves me moving a lot of written material between sites and in this famous Welsh weather I would really need something waterproof! It's also a bag I'd like to use for camping weekends away as a kind of all-in-one EDC bag.

I don't know if they have them there, I just use an old ALICE pack. Also, about any canvas pack can be made water proof.

Never canvas, it always ends up leaking. For a few years now I've used the Hazard 4 MOD for work

Thanks all, great stuff. Zed, that backpack looks great! The Hazard is nice too but I am ideally looking for something a little cheaper. Will investigate! thanks.

I just got a Swiss Engineers Rucksack.  It's rubberized canvas I believe.   Leather straps.  I haven't had a chance to carry it yet but it seems very well built.  All reviews I've read have verified it's waterproofness.

Hey! Nice pack! How are the straps?

Thanks!  They seem ok. I've only thrown a couple pounds in and walked around the house a bit so far.  I don't think I'd want to put a bunch of weight in and do a long trek without some modification.  But for a day hike I think they'd be Ok.  Time will tell once I gets chance to get it out some.  I had read some reviews hinting at shoulder strap mods having been done but never followed up on what they actually were.

There is also a companion bread bag that is available for this ruck that straps to the top of the pack.

I see. There's a lot of those swiss surplus here. Haven't tried them but they seem pretty durable and the straps for me is the only downside.

The straps on my Belgium army pack shown above are wider than the Swiss packs, but yesterday I put most of my fishing gear in it and walked a 45mins walk,it wasn't too bad going but coming home in was digging in,so extra padding would improve it  :tu: but for under a tenner these are good packs and very waterproof  :salute:

I ended up getting the bread bag to go with the pack.  I used Snoseal to waterproof all the canvas parts.  I'm really liking this bag! :tu:
