I wonder if the company Altoid has any idea what their tins are being used for?

Nice idea for a thread. I have a strange fascination with tins. Here's an old picture I posted some time ago.

Interesting uses.  Here is one of mine:

It's a modified charger for AA sized lithium cells (14500).  I use them in my armytek tiara flashlight.  Pictured with it is one of my 14500 cells.  The charger was modified to drop the current below 500 ma as it was originally closer to 1 amp - too much for the small cells.

I added a small digital readout to give the voltage of the cell.

I built an adjustable audio attenuator inside an Altoids tin.  It serves as an interface between a radio scanner and digital recorder.

Captain S and Blackbeard - never really thought of that but it sure would set off some alarm bells I'm sure.  Likely end up in a dungeon in a very unattractive part of the world. :D

Parnass - good use of the tin.  You could fit another one in there if you needed it.

John.

Now this is a great idea for a thread  :tu:

I have several Altoids and a couple Velamints tins, but I've never done anything really clever with them. Made one into a mini FAK.

A while back I saw a video on YouTube with a fellow's Altoids tin loadout that made use of magnets glued in to "lock" items in place. Don't recall who it was, but that sounds like an idea worth stealing, eh?

I have a few 2oz tobacco tins with fire lighting bits, SAK spares, drill bits etc, but my EDC tin is this 20g one from our very own firiki. It came as part of a generous GAW he did late last year which I was lucky enough to win. I like the tin so kitted it out with a sewing kit, Classic, LED torch, compass, paracetamol and Ibuprofen, anti-bac wipe, plasters and emergency cash. It also reminds me of my friend firiki whenever I carry it.:

Here is the rack that I made from scraps of cedar a few years ago to hold Altoids tins.  Sorry for the blurred image.
