More musings today. Went out hiking to break in my new shoes and get some exercise in, carried my Soldier, tested out the saw, works great actually. I do need to get the proper OD belt pouch for it, a Hunter XT pouch is working fill in, but its a tad too big.

Added a Camo Classic for scissors and toothpick/tweezers. Paired this with a Swisstech tool on a big splitring to carry in my pocket. I like the Classic but I may want to try a 74mm of some variety to see how it is. Recommendations in that size?

Next week I have 3 days off, I'm going to try and put a day pack together, I'll keep you updated.

I have an Ambassador-without-a-keyring, whatever that's called - I immediately regretted having no keyring as it means this little beauty doesn't see much action.
I like the 74mm's bigger blade; it seems significantly more useful than the delicate thing on the Classic. Ditto the scissors. Strangely the nail file is actually smaller, which isn't too impressive.
Other than the keyring, what I miss the most on this 74mm are alox scales. Victorinox offers the Money Clip, which comes in a couple of fairly boring colours and has no keyring (?I think) but I doubt it could ever be as pretty as my pink alox Classic.
So for now, as much as I like the 74mm SAKs, none of them are likely to replace my alox Classic.

Good points Thunderpants, I may just stick to the Classic for now.

Thoughts for the day, trying to locate a Alox Soldier or Pioneer, taking a Ronald approach, might carry 3 SAKs at once, who knows. Stay tuned.

Today's thoughts, after the holidays I plan on putting together a day pack for hiking and lunch on the trail. Picked my pack out, SOG makes a nice one for a decent price. Going to get a French M47 Canteen/Mess Kit, plus my first aid kit, water purification stuff, and a backup SAK, probably my Huntsman. More to come.
