In the past i've used Liberon leather cream, is this ok ?

Shu-Glo fixes everything, always.
I use it on my shoes (as advertised), and also my couch, and trousers.

I usually just use Kiwi Saddle Soap.  It cleans well and conditions without really changing the appearance of the leather like a polish will.

I mostly use Kiwi neutral shoe polish . Saddle soap has a tendency to soften leather too much . If I want a bit of shine , I use Fiebings Bag Kote.

I use saddle soap to clean leather then I use neatsfoot oil or mink oil. But if the leather is a lite color, I wound not use the oils because they will darken the leather.

I struggled with this question after my sister gave me a Camillus USAF survival knife (with leather handle). I had never owned a knife with a leather handle, and wondered how to treat it. After 10,000 opinions some from reps who talked about steel/preservative interaction, I settled on mink oil. I've heard that it can turn rancid both on the leather and in the can, but I've had no problem. I still don't trust it fully in it's interaction with the steels (time will tell, you guys in England and Australia will hear me scream if it rusts my Wave!).

Good Luck, Bill.

I've had good luck using Obenauf's Heavy Duty Leather Preservative:

I've used it for several years on my hunting boots and they look pretty much like new (with a few scrapes here & there). It does darken the leather, tho.

Never tried it on a knife handle tho....

Lexol. http://www.lexol.com/  Best stuff I've used on many different leathers. Doesn't dry it out and never colored any of my leather goods.

Thanks all for the replies.

This is the stuff i've used in the past
http://www.buckandryan.co.uk/product.php/section/3749/sn/LIBLCN250
It's not bad but it does tend to make the leather a little sticky for a while when I used it on a LM sheath.

The item i'm trying to treat is an old leather bag which has seen better days. Mould is my biggest worry as it will be in a collection with cloth and paper items, i'm really worried any mould will spread to the rest  :(

I'll look into these, thanks
