Any other Box enthusiasts?
on: March 11, 2017, 07:23:29 PM
I am bonkers for boxes.  :ahhh
I prefer to have boxes with SAKs I purchase, and I'd be over the moon if there was an original receipt too.

I thought I would show the oldest part of my collection for which I have boxes.  Since I am not the original owner of these (except the last one, the Camper), I have to trust that the box sold with the knife was original.

Show 'em if you like to share too!

My first SAK, the Camper, lost in a movie theater.

I think I have the top row sorted now.
The very left box has a Swiss Cross that looks different than the others and I believe it is the oldest SAK I own that has a box with it:

I love boxes and keep them for all my military SAK's; they add to the story.

Amazing!!!  You have a very enviable collection!

I had to smile at the Gemco receipt.  I remember haunting Gemco and Fedco many moons ago when I lived in the S.F. Valley. :)

It looks like you have your very own museum quality collection!

Very nice!

I have a storage drawer for boxed SAKs, most of which are the current silver-grey style box.  I have a couple of items in the dark maroon box.  So far, I don't have any of the older boxes that you displayed.  I do like acquiring new and new original stock unused in their boxes.  Even though I have a collection of SAKs, I am not a serious collector and am not looking for high value collectables with provinance.

The mail just came, bringing me a pristine Yeoman still in box.  Hmmm...I guess I like boxes more than I thought.  I suppose I can admit to being a little bonkers for boxes. :)

Wow! I'm not a box enthusiast but I think such boxes are more difficult to find than the knives.
Outstanding box collection! Thanks for showing here.

Nice collections, FB and SG!     :tu:   :tu:

I hang on to the boxes if they come with the knife, but they're stashed in large boxes in the closet in no particular order.

 :like: This thread is wonderful... I'd love to have your boxes and the knives as a bonus!  I hold onto mine too, but they are all fairly recent production knives.  I love looking at your collections...it takes me on a wonderful trip back memory lane!

The only older boxed knife I had was this, a Tinker Small branded for Caterpillar.  I ended up giving it to a friend who ran CAT equipment for surface coal mining operations for nearly 40 years.

Perhaps in the absence of boxes, you could look for a suitable display.

This is showing the New DAK (which came in its own box), together with its Woodland sheath, both of which came packed in the big box.

The CT 41 was the first SAK that I ever got my hands on, delivered in a box.
Never got a box when I bought a SAK at a cuterly shop...
Since it's the only one, it now has it's spot in my display.

Guess it'll add to the value... in another 40 years

Me too for boxes.

The vast majority of my collection is boxed. I'm a sucker for boxes and pouches. Some of the pouches are almost as fascinating as the tool themselves.
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.
