Hoffman Richter multi-tools - Do you own one?
« on: March 12, 2017, 04:46:14 PM »
What are they like? They are not priced as cheap, off brand multi-tools, but are also not commonly mentioned, so I was wondering if anyone has one, and maybe share some thoughts on it.
Thanks.  :tu:

Not sure,  I've looked into them and they seem interesting. Not sure how the quality is.

I have never handled them specifically, but I am pretty certain I know exactly what they are.   >:D

The HR-100 EDT XL looks awfully familiar:D

The EDT Mini Multi is another cheapo that is fairly common.  I believe they have been made under a variety of brands, most notably Cabelas.  I have a black Power Fist one from a Canadian store called Princess Auto.

It's not so much that we don't discuss their tools, it's more along the lines of we don't discuss their brand on the tools we have discussed fairly often.  :D

I've been checking the links of threads, getting deeper into this. How many companies put their name on this?  :o
Hoffman Richter
SwitchEdge
Olympia Edge
Snap-on
Kilimanjaro

Shame, but this means that you can find the same design for less, so I might actually buy one. The cheapest one.  >:D

Yeah, I'm not sure how to get it, but there appears to be a large catalogue of super cheap tools from various manufacturers kicking around, and all you need to do is point to which one you want and six weeks later you get a container full of them with your logo on them.

Obviously it is a money maker, or it wouldn't be so widespread.

I own one of these with the Snap in name on it. It it actually a pretty good tool, but the lack of locking tools makes it a step under a Gerber Suspension as far as quality goes.

The only thing of their's I've got, is the tacticool pen. It works very well for what it is, a super heavy duty Space Pen. Hoffman Richter Stinger Tactical Pen https://www.amazon.com/dp...sw_r_cp_apa_5EZXyb80GN8MH

The wire cutters on the pliers look a bit odd to me.  I'm not sure if they are cast as part of the pliers (but styled to look like replaceable cutters), or they are actually separate pieces of steel but rivetted in (so not easily replaceable anyway !  )   ???

A reviewer on the tube said you "knock the rivet off and you can replace the cutters" but that does not make sense. What then? You rivet the new cutters in?

Maybe you send it in and they rivet in new cutters?
