Cut myself to shreds while fitting the handle, really stupid move to sharpen it.......

Anyway, glued yesterday, and fortunately rather last minute I remembered I meant to etch it.....

I bought the Ferric Chloride powder more than a year ago, finally mixed it up and played a bit last Sunday.  The attempt at a maker's mark on my knives was a flop.......

......but the axe looks really sweet!

Don't mean to be a tease, need to do a bit of clean-up, handle sanding and oiling, then I'll post some pics.

The best part is it's an amazing (and probably deadly) little toy!  >:D

How did you get that finish?

Many hits with a small ball peen hammer and a sanding disk & angle grinder.
