To be clear;I consider a "collection" as acquiring items of a specific brand or pattern.I consider mine an"accumulation" as they are all knives(more or less)but acquired with no specific brand or pattern.Just a matter of words.
Most of the miniatures(the German ones anyway)were purchased from another knife collector who specialized in militaria. He would buy whole collections to acquire specific items related to the military and then sell off the rest.I became one of his best customers and he would offer me first pick on any item he wasn't interested in.
Others I would find in my travels to various antique shops and flea markets. As an aside;I have been actively collecting knives since the age of ten;when I bought my first knife(with my grandfather's permission)for the grand sum of ninety eight cents.I still own it today although it did go missing for about 25 years(a long story).I just turned 73 years old so I have managed to "accumulate" a few over the years. Hope you enjoyed the post.
BTW the knife you posted previously:I have one very similar to it. Here is a picture.I assume that it says Berlin Radio Tower 150 metres.

One last miniature that I consider a work of art:Made by Joseph Rodgers & Sons around 1880 this tiny pair of scissors has a small knife blade in each side. The handles are ivory but what is amazing(to me anyway)is that each side is constructed from one piece of metal with only the back springs as separate pieces! How tedious it must have been to make those from just one piece of metal.

Yes they are. Whenever I photograph any knife I use a background of 1 inch(25.4mm)squares to make it easy to determine relative size.

Beautiful little knives dks! Thank you for posting them. I particularly like the 5th from the top(under the Buck);is that the Palles? I have not heard that name before;is it a French make? The little Damascus lock back looks nice as well. And of course I cannot forget the Spyderco. All nice pieces!

Thanks for the link! I don't usually read reviews because my tastes usually run to vintage or antique knives.I can see a couple of pluses for the Pallares version. One is the "birdseye" rivets which are much stronger than the solid type on the Palles. Another is the convex grind on the blade edge.Although much harder to achieve than a standard grind it is actually easier to maintain and provides a stronger edge. Are those handles really synthetic or are they made of clear horn? I like the leaf shaped blade a lot and the overall look of the knife.Looks like it would make a nice work knife.

Palles has some wooden ones too and Pallares has some coloured synthetic ones, but their website has various other models. ThePeacent should be able to tell you more
