Fake or real?
on: March 17, 2017, 02:47:20 PM
I found a cheap SAK on letgo that looks like a Vic but there is  no shield logo on the red scales. The bottom section of the blade is not clearly seen (covered by the can opener in the photos), so I cannot be certain if this is a real one or fake.

The tool has scissors, pliers, fish scaler with a ruler, wood saw, bottle opener, can opener with a flat head, cork opener, an awl without a hole and a blade. But it also has a magnifying glass in a METAL housing (but without a flat head at the end).  I searched (on the SAKWiki as well) but could not see any metal-cased magnifiying glasses without a flat head on Vics.

The quality and material does look like a Vic but the lack of the shield and that weird metal-cased magnifying glass caused me to doubt about the authenticity. Any ideas?

A picture would really help.  :pok:
Wenger made a magnifying glass like you describe, so that does not mark the tool as fake.

Ok I'm not sure. Do you have a picture?

Yup, but the ones on Wenger have a screwdriver on top. This one looks exacly like the gray plastic Vic casing, only is made of metal.

Hehe I'm gonna try to post a screenshot, then :)

And here they come. Unfortunately letgo does not show you a photo without all those writings on screen, so bear with me :/

The metal housing around the mag glass is something I've seen only on Chinese fake.
Jeep the SAK of the auto world or is it SAK the Jeep of the Knife world?

Whoa I'm impressed... I was almost certain that this was -maybe- a somehow undocumented weird Vic or... Dunno.

Well, thank you guys, I'm gonna steer away from this product  :salute:

I'm far from a pro at this, but that looks as fake, as the fakest fakey thing, faking it on faking day.

Look at the shape of the pliers.... kind of elongated & wrong.

The top section of the scissors looked too pointy to me, didn't recognize the pliers, though...

The main thing is, if it was a Victorinox they would say so!
Nothing says "no-name" like no name. (And a freakishly low price)

Fake.
The pliers made it obvious for me too.
Also the toothpick seems to be just a little to white...

Did that spring ever get used by Vic while they had riveted scissors?
