So was this caused by the keyring, or the keyring nub, or simply by hard work only?

The blister was caused by the edge where the tools meet the scales.  With the Camper I used the small blade so the KR was not in the danger zone, I was using a Pioneer w/KR nub ground off but it still left a sore spot in the palm of my hand.  Had there been a nub I probably would have gotten a blister.

With this extremely dense wood my normal techniques proved to be a little unsafe, blades closing while working, and a couple slips resulted in a few cuts. 

I know I could have got this done a lot easier with other/power tools but I wanted to keep it minimal SAK style

I'd leave it like that, or test the product on a loose piece of wood to see what it does.

I'd put some Salve on it..............  :D Dont ask me why,or what it will do.  :whistle: .......just know that old timers like ta put Salve on stuff.  :D :D :D
