What makes it illegal in Ireland?

It's under 3", has no lock, no one handed opening, no double edges, and a backspring so tight that it could never be flicked open under any circumstances.

It's an interesting concept, but the designer tried really hard to make it as tactical as possible without making a tactical knife, when really he should have just tried to make a good knife.

Leave the dents as they are- let your belongings show their scars as proudly as you do yours.

Basically the fact that it has a sharp edge, that's all.  :D

Let me clarify.

As the law here is written, anything with a sharp edge or point, you need a "reasonable excuse" to carry(Its for work, fishing camping etc).
(And sharp pencils technically fall under this law... :D )
Its all up to the officer if you have a good excuse or not.
Probably the officer will not care about a pencil, some might not care about a keychain SAK, but I doubt you can get away with bigger blades without a "reasonable excuse"...

This article explains it and has the relevant section of law at the bottom half.

This but sounds a bit brutal  :-\

9.—(1) Subject to subsections (2) and (3), where a person has with him in any public place any knife or any other article which has a blade or which is sharply pointed, he shall be guilty of an offence.

Indeed.   :ahhh
As the next bit says, the officer has the power to decide whether the person in question has a reasonable excuse to carry said article.
Better hope he/she is in a good mood!  :ahhh  :P

That, it is also a very heavy knife.

And I can see a LEO make the argument that the extra-strong back-spring equals locking. I have carried mine for a while, but the edge shape and the curve towards the tip are not really to my liking.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

You could only call it cute if you haven't seen how big it is in hand. ;)  It's distinctly a "chunky monkey" IMO.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.
