I have what I thought were two identical Champions with LNF.  I was getting ready to sell one, and was trying to figure out which one to keep, which to sell.
As I was looking them over I noticed the nail nicks are quite different.

Would this indicate a different time frame, or just a manufacturing variance?  Just curious.

**Edit, read second post too, found another difference.
I can provide more pictures if needed, but these two Champions have all the same implements, just different nail nicks.

Sorry, these seem quite different now to me upon further inspection.
The scissors are different too.

Nail nick I'd chalk up to manufacturing variation.

Re: differences - both of the knives you're looking at we made at a time (early 1970s) when there were a LOT of changes going on a Victorinox. As a result there are a ton of variations of these knives. You already see the scissor change - the scissors with the big gap were introduced c. 1969/70, so they appear on a lot of Champion LNFs of that era that still have the bail and the LNF next to the blades. These knives would have been made a little later than that, but shortly after. It's pretty common to see knives in the early 1970s that still have the older 1960s style scissors, as if they found a box of old stock in the back and are using up the old parts.

Other things to look for from this era:

1. +PAT on the can opener - this disappears around this time
2. Sharpener on the inside of the caplifter
3. File on the phillips or not. For a couple years here these knives will have solid, no-file and no-can key phillips,

Thank you JB!

Left knife:
Yes, has +PAT
Yes, has sharpener
No file and no -can key

Right knife:
No +PAT
No sharpener, if it is there it's not sharp
No file and no-can key
