Lost SAK Support Group
on: March 23, 2017, 07:25:10 AM
El Cork-screwed

People, Friends, Knights. I lost my FAVORITE SAK (the one in El Profile Pic) today and it hurts.   Pretty sure this is worse than a flat tire. I don't even know where I lost it, just know it wasn't in my jacket as I thought when I got home and I searched Everywhere.  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh  It was my go-to red Compact.  My companion through thick and thin. I hope whoever has him now will give him the love and respect he so deserves....  I'll include a couple pics for sentiment's sake.

I have another new black Compact in a box that I reserved for such an unfortunate day as this but now that the day has come it just doesn't feel right.    I think I'll try to fill this void with my Climber + & Spartan + but I know it just won't feel right.   I also have a golfer I could carry but if I'm not golfing I just feel kinda inappropriate carrying that thing around...   What should I do?  I think I'll have to buy another new red Compact eventually... but I think it can wait.

I offer this thread as a place to tell your sad SAK stories. A place to find solace and support when one feels lost without his trusty friend.

Knifecenter can still get you a red cellidor compact if you want one. Also that big mountain store has them.

El C, I totally feel for you.  Losing a knife is very personal.  It's a tool that you carry to help you with certain tasks...very much a personal assistant.  The void is large.
I had my favorite and very first SAK lost, the Camper.

I do think you will need to buy another brand new red one.
Keep looking though.  They show up from time to time, slid down beside/under the car seat and in the couch, etc.

Here's hoping you find it.
Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

I sincerely appreciate your sympathy and support, y'all.

I'll probably order a shiny new red Compact this weekend.

I'm sorry El C!!  I was just talking to my boys about my long lost Uncle Henry Deerslayer, the one lock back I've ever seen with scissors.  I was out hunting as a boy and it slid out of my pocket.  I won't even go into the PST I lost... >:(

That's really bad luck El C. Commiserations mate losing a favourite is hard. I lost my first SAK, a Fisherman, at school and even now I have a preference for them and I'll fight on the barricades to defend the Fish Scaler. I got a replacement but it has a printed fish on the scale which just isn't the same and I'm still looking for a replacement with that inlaid fish.

If it turns up it'll be like the prodigal son though ... so go look in the last place you'd think!  :salute:

Thanks FastBill!   Luckily our friend, FolderBeholder, has sent me a replacement in white no less!  I feel compelled to help you out.  Couple questions 1) Is there a particular era of the Fisherman you're looking for or just the inlay?  2) Any idea on US -> UK shipping rates for a SAK?

Are they harder to find in the UK?  Here's a pretty good for a pretty decent price, it is US though...  http://www.ebay.com/itm/VICTORINOX-FISHERMAN-Swiss-Army-Knife-SAK-2-Blades-Scissors-Fish-Scaler-Awl-/272597839890?hash=item3f7818f012:g:X6cAAOSwCU1Yz-yg

No wonder they all lost their SAK.
I wondered before where they would store theirs...

The generosity of this place amazes me. That's a really kind offer El C and much appreciated. I was looking for a mid 1970's model but what mattered was the inlay really. I have no idea about shipping rates US to UK I'm afraid but if you do bump into one PM me and I'll happily cover the costs. I have yet to find one here and so I was working on the basis that I'd find one eventually when Lady Luck smiled. I may just be looking in the wrong place ! But I'm bowled over by your kind offer

Goodness gracious! FolderBeholder HOOKED IT UP!  But not in the sense of a hook, because this Compact predates the hook, and I think that's uniquely awesome!!!

There's a new love in my life and her name is La Compacta Blanca Bianca!!!

Thank you FB!     It really means a lot to me!  And it makes me feel lucky to be a part of this community.  I didn't start this thread to get a replacement but that's just the kind of support I got.  Good golly.

Right?  It's amazing.  I almost always have an extra Spartan or other corkscrew lying around if any knight runs in to trouble and finds himself unarmed, gimme a shout!
