Day 28 - Saw day

The old christmas tree got shaved. The saw was used to cut of the small branches and cut the three in sections. Some kind of chopper would have done it faster but this is Amorphous April :D ... and it took less than 10 minutes anyway. I realized that the mp600 handle  likely is the most comfortable MT handle for sawing. The "under" handle was not in the way when sawing.

The SOG saw on the mp600

The sog saw has aggressive 90 degree angles on teeth in the backstroke, while the angle is less aggresive on the LM Rebar saw. The swiss tool is even less aggresive in its teeths. I prefere the less aggressive saws so far as it makes the sawing smoother ... but the SOG saw is still good ;)

Great pics!   :tu:

Day 29

One more day and this challenge will be in the books! :2tu: :woohoo:
I went to the gun show today and finally succumbed to the striker fired hype and bought a pistol designed in this century, a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm.  I used Mr. Pinchy to remove the cable tie from the pistol when I got home.

Please tell me that's not the same MP that you disposed of the dead critter parts with.  Or if it is, at least that it has been cleaned and sterilized prior to being anywhere near food. :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

but noooo  it was impossible without the small flat head  :sa: ...it was removed in favour of the awl and larger screw drivers. A critical decision    ... the hacked gerber totally let down my daughter  :wait:

Since my MP-600 has no saw, I used the serrated blade to trim some small branches on a tulip poplar tree that were blocking my view of a bird feeder.  The serrated blade was sub-optimal for the task, but it got the job done.

Thanks much to Troels for spearheading this adventure, and to all those who participated.  I was pretty familiar with the MP-600 before this Challenge, so my opinion is unchanged after 30 days.  I love just about all MTs -  and the MP series is no different -  and I can make it through the day just fine with nothing else but an MP-600. But if I had to choose only one MT <shutter>, the MP would not be near the top of the list.  Its rather inelegant design requiring multiple steps to deploy and stow the tools is a major downside for the MP, though not a deal breaker.  The main blade is funky, and some MPs have the nail nick on the wrong side of the tool. And I miss the precise scissors found on the Victorinox lineup.  Yet, like an AK-47 that seems to be designed by deranged monkeys, the MP is bulletproof and always seems to get the job done.  Albeit with not quite the finesse of other MTs.

I dug out three extremely rusted and ill-treated knives I found yesterday on the field while digging some trenches.

Now they're  soaking in vinegar as part 1 of the SPA reconditioning process

it's been nice as a first challenge, the Gerber didn't disappoint! Not the fastest, prettiest or most versatile but enough for most folk's daily needs for sure.
