Hi Folks

A question for you XAVT owners......
You know the hook, chisel and fine SD are always on the back of the scissors, saw and metal file respectively?

However the XAVT has an additional back spring hook (with nf) and an additional fine SD
- Can you tell me what tools they are on the back of please?
- As it does not have duplicates of the main spring tools with which these tools are normally paired.

Just curious - Thanks  :salute:

Oh and I reorganised the XAVT tools into groups in the WIKI page (and updated the first para)
- See what you think ??? ...... Any feedback welcome
http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=SwissChamp+XAVT

I quite like it - As the list was so long, this breaks it up a bit - Also helps compare the big models :tu:

Think the usual partners are scissors hook, saw small screwdriver and file chisel.

Don't have the xavt however I am thinking the back tools are paired as follows:

corkscrew - lg and sm blade
chisel - file
sm flat - watch and combo tool
sm flat - pruner and e blade
hook - scissors
hook w/ nail file - awl and serrated blade
awl - bottle and can opener

You are really making me work for this Mr. LeaF  :pok: and the low res images did not help  :twak:   :D  ;)

However from what I can make out Dr. John is absolutely spot on. How did you work that out mate?

Which is surprising (EDIT: - The tool config I mean - Not the fact Z is right!!)
As this means that the saw, which normally has the SD on its back - does not have it on the XAVT - Hmmm

Thanks guys  :salute:  :tu:

I really have enjoyed this thread!  My youngest son is enamored with the XAVT, enough that I've looked into one but the cost had kept me from jumping on one.

I am enamored as well, I got to borrow one and I kept it in my pocket. Amazing SAK, I was using it for everything. Wish I could have one so bad  :gimme: :climber: :climber:

Hi,

Sorry for the bad-quality pictures.  :-[
If you still interesting in them, you can find hi-res ones here: http://leaf.noip.me:8888/photo/share/yOUeQj3Z.

But I have to say, that zoidberg is absolutely right - tools are paired absolutely in same order as he described.

Here it is, between some smaller brothers and cousins.

The bottom pic is from Marios (a former member here). I bought the XAVT and XLT shown from him and I now own them myself.

Yeah I wish there were more outside and real use pics instead of just on the desk. I would love to have my own to mess with and use everywhere.

I bought the XAVT for $399 USD plus tax. I saw it as an average price for the XAVT, so I went for it. No regrets. You can find this knife in the pouch on my belt everyday. I use it quite often. Some people find it fascinating and some find it comical. Either way its a nice tool to have and use. I really enjoy using the XAVT. I find the double cyber tool quite handy to have. The torx bits fit my daily carry Cold Steel Voyager Tanto XL screws quite well, among many other things. I leave a phillips bit in one wrench and a torx bit in another. So it is quite handy to be able to switch bits without any disassembly. I simply close one wrench and open another. The other duplicate tools such as magnifying glass, parcel hooks, and backside flat head screw drivers are handy to have as backups. But those aren't necessary. I have seen the champ models wherein the magnifying glass had broken due to a bad drop. Also seen where the rear side flat head was bend from prying small things. So use one duplicate tool for daily use and keep one for backup. I have a barometer, altimeter, compass and thermometer on my solar atomic G-Shock watch. So I cross reference the XAVT with my G-Shock watch. I find the two barometers and thermometers to be very close to each other in accuracy. I have to take the watch off for a half hour to get a temp reading. The XAVT gives an accurate temp right off the bat unless it was in my pocket, which is not usually the case. Then it takes a few minutes out of the pocket to get an accurate reading. I'm a big guy 6'-4" 280 lbs. so my pockets are big. This knife gets lost in my pockets. It even fits in my coin pocket. But the pouch seems to work the best. Also, I would hate for something to slip out of my pocket. That would be a tragedy. I use my front right pocket for my CS big blade and the belt pouch for the XAVT. I untuck my shirt and I never know its there. Cant even see a lump. I looked at the Wenger knives and I find the Victorinox brand to be a superior fit and finish. Even though the two companies are one now. Just my two cents.

Welcome to  :MTO: Scott.  :hatsoff:  and thanks for the comments on the XAVT.

My 30 day challenge ends in a couple days with a mini review of the XAVT. I’ll make sure that I mention there’s at least one MTO member that used it for EDC.

Oh, and I guess I must join this club too!
