One of my favorite tools that I wish was on every SAK is the small straight tip screwdriver on the back of the 5+ layer Vic's.  Coupled with the chisel, it really works into my needs, especially whittling and small tool repair.  My Dad was an airplane pilot/mechanic and my grandfather a farmer, so I was raised by real life MacGyvers who created tools to solve problems.  Neither of them were SAK guys, but I think they would have loved the Swisschamp!

That's awesome!  My dad got me my first SAK when I was 8 but he was always a Buck man.  He had a Buck and a handkerchief in the back pocket at ALL times.

Cool background on your dad and grandfather. I bet you are right ....I am sure they both would have appreciated the Swisschamp.

Thanks El C and Vicman!  My grandfather always had some unknown make Barlow and Dad packed an old scout knife until the PST came out.  I think he had to be one of the first to buy one, and carried it until 2005 when he gave it to me.  Unfortunately, I lost it at work one evening, but that's a story for another time..... >:( :P

I've only just picked up on this thread Barry but you've clearly gone from one extreme to the other. Good lad you're obviously making the SC earn its time in the spotlight. Come the end of this can we expect an epic month with a Classic ?

Light day so far for the Swisschamp.  Used the small blade to open a box.  The day is still young!

Come to think of it, there's not many tools on that champ that can't help open stuff...  Maybe the magnifying glass... But I guess you could always BURN your way in, lol.

Used the scissors to cut open some plastic bags today.  I like the feel of this knife.  The width actually makes gripping it nice for my medium sized hands.

I started using the small blade to cut open packages way back when I worked in a small drug store and we got our shipments of goods in.  Back then all I had was my Huntsman and I wanted to save my large blade.  I've carried the habit with me all these years.  Back then, newspapers still came bundled in plastic cord, but that was a few years prior to the parcel hook!

I agree about the size of the Swisschamp. It does have a nice feel to it.

It is my favorite EDC knife. I have carried one since the Swisschamp first came out. :tu:

Phew ! I like the small blade too and usually turn to that first. I'm so relieved you've found something to do with your SC on Sunday. I was nearly worried Barry !

That's a chunky calulator you've got their Barry. I had a wedge shaped Texas Instruments job when I was at school. I was amazed how much fresh air was inside when I changed the battery.

I agree Bill.  It's the model they issue at my son's school, built to withstand the rigors of a classroom of 11 year olds

Fixed the spot in our kitchen where the linoleum lifted with the caplifter.
