I could afford a bike if...
on: October 07, 2008, 03:41:41 PM
I stopped buying bike tools!  :D

While in Maine I picked up another interesting bike tool at Cabelas.  It's the CT-Worx from SKS in Germany, and according to THEIR WEBSITE it's got "20 functions for touring and race bikers."  Since I haven't toured or commuted on a bike in years, I really can't comment on that one way or the other, but I will say it has an awful lot of features for such a compact package.  But, then again, would you expect any less from the Germans? :D

You can see the user manual HERE.

I haven't used it for much yet, but I can say that it is well built and feels quite solid- somewhat better than at least one other bike tool I have, although I won't mention any names *cough*CCM*cough*.

You can read an actual cyclist's review at Bikeradar.com.

I don't have a full review written as I haven't had much opportunity to use it, but here are some pictures I took, for what that's worth!  :D

It is a little bulky for carrying though, and you would need to leave it in a bag as it has no sheath and no lanyard or other tie down points, so don't throw out the fanny pack just yet!

Still, it has an impressive array of features that could easily be transposed to regular duty, not just bike related jobs.

It does look a bit bulkier than it needs to be....

It is a bit bulky, but not nearly as bad as some other bike tools I have.  Compared to those, it's downright svelte!

How much does the CT-Worx weigh?
Oddly, the review on the cycling website you linked to doesn't say either.
It looks bulky, but it also looks like the bulk is mostly plastic.
I have some bigger/bulkier bike tools, but I don't carry those anymore.

I had to use my bike SAK yesterday afternoon while I was out riding my mountain bike.
Somehow the chain got wedged between the middle ring and the granny,
and it wasn't coming out of there until I loosened the granny ring with the 5mm alan wrench.

Looks like a fairly decent effort to me boss, at least it's ergonomically shaped, and you can't say that about all bike tool.
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

In the bikeradar review the guy says, "SKS CT-Worx is unusual in that it includes a 15mm pedal spanner; it’s basic and slides onto the 6mm Allen key....."

What part is it exactly that slides onto the 6mm allen key? ???

In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

I believe the smaller hex hole in the flat tool w/the 15mm spanner is what they're talking about.  That would be a bit awkward, but would work.
