Two Euro wasn't bad for either. I have a Buck Squire box (unfortunately, when I inherited the box with other knives, the Squire wasn't in there), and the price tag on it was $32, and this was back in the mid '80s. Where I live, at flea markets, buying a used knife for retail or even below is impossible, namely if it is a Case or Boker knife. A guy was selling a Boker USA "Great American Story" edition Stockman for $35, and it had been used and carried some. Those knives are less than $20 on Ebay in that shape, and that price is roughly what most people ask when the knife is brand new, still in the box. When the guy gave me that ridiculous price, I knew I couldn't reason to get it down to the right price, I just put the thing down and went to the next seller.
