Picked up some car camping items.
on: April 03, 2017, 06:05:10 PM
I usually bring a plastic mat to cut food up when car camping.  I saw these and decided to give them a go.  I treated them with some mineral oil as directed and will give them a proper try in my kitchen first.  They are a pretty decent size and fit perfectly into my car camp gear bag.

I also got another Stanley cook pot, this time for my friend.

That's awesome!

I usually stick out the plastic cutting boards from the dollar store and toss them when try get nasty.

Those look great though, I feel like if I go camping with you I'll need to wear a tie!

Well bamboo isnt the easiest on knife edges ( rather the nodules ) but yes the mats and other cutting boards I've used do get pretty gross.  I've tossed out plenty.

I wanted something a bit more rugged so we'll see how it goes.

I'd be interested to know how they perform as I've been looking at bamboo cutting boards lately.
Nice set  :salute:

I'm back from a camp trip and was able to use my bamboo cutting boards.  Of the three I used the two larger ones and they were quite nice.  I was "worried" they'd dull my knives as bamboo is pretty hard material.  I used my Hunter as my food prep knife which was not dulled at all. They cleaned up nicely which is also a plus.  I still have plastic mats but I'll be using these for now.  We'll see how long they last over time but for now I'm happy with the first time out.

Thanks.  I am very happy with them.  My biggest concern was dulling blades but that was not an issue.  I like how well they cleaned up and unlike my plastic mat cutting "boards" they lie flat.
