And if you don't mind the added weight, you get a mini-screwdriver, pin, toothpick and tweezers :D

(Image removed from quote.)

Well, I can see the advantage of adding the small SD, despite the weight increase, but the pin?!

Oh yes, the Waiter! A good two weeks ago I bougth two 84 mm Vic's off ebay dirt cheap, just to get a feel for that size, one Waiter and one Sportsman. I like them both, but the Waiter was a true relevation! So ligthweight and small yet so capable. I fell in love with it instantly and it made me to reconsider what you need and don't need on a SAK. Truly a gem.

I only miss the scissors a bit. Victorinox really should make a 84 mm Compact or even "Golfer", the hook is not that important for me.

Might be easier to just buy a Scientist and remove a layer

Though a Compact might be cheaper :D

Hello Waiter Wednesday Members!

I have two VSAKs to share today, one rarer Bartender (which has no club of its own apparently) and a very modern Waiter.

Here's my Bartender, which I think is just a Waiter minus the corkscrew.  I'm not sure how it differs from a Cellidor scaled Bantam; perhaps someone who knows can clarify this.  I am the original owner of this knife, having bought it on December 10, 1983.  Although I don't really have any memories of the purchase itself, based on the date I am sure I should have been studying for finals instead of knife shopping at Cutlery World.  The receipt shows I paid $11.50 for this knife brand new.

Fast forward in time to 2014 and I bought this very handy camping kitchen kit for my son for his 13th birthday.  It includes a Waiter, two Victorinox kitchen knives, and a combo fork/spoon utensil.  I can't remember how much I paid for this, but I'm thinking in the neighborhood of $25.  Does anyone else remember this kit?

Kind regards to all,

Myron

Well, the first is a Bantam. Never heard of the Bartender (SAKWiki doesn't know anything about it, either). Maybe it's just a name they used in the US and A, to make it more "relatable"?

Well, the SAKWiki says this (quoting) about the Waiter:

"The Victorinox Waiter is an 84mm Swiss Army Knife.
Although this model has one of the more minimal tool sets of the Victorinox knives, with only a single layer of tools, it is still quite popular as a very practical configuration for a minimalist pocket knife, and for travel.
This model was also known as the Victorinox Bartender in some markets."

But it's weird that my "Bartender" doesn't have a corkscrew.  What I suspect happened is somebody sold me a Bantam in a Bartender box.  We shall probably never know....

Since it's also Wenger Wednesday, the Evo 63 deserves recognition. Wenger's non-Evo models were called the Entree, Basic 63 (no T&T), and Classic 63.

along with the Victorinox Waiter
