As mentioned recently, the best thing about my work situation at the moment is arriving home afterwards.

There's one thing that makes me happier than anything else when I get back, seeing an envelope like this:

Now, I haven't been buying much lately (see above) so I knew what was in this envelope before I opened it. What I didn't know was whether the contents would live up to my expectations, as this purchase was all agreed and detailed via e-mail - with no pics! I last felt like this on Christmas morning when I was about 8 years old. Is it what I asked for?

Let's see:

No close inspection done yet (although I can confirm that none have date codes, and even the knurled screw variants have the drop point blade - they are OLD) - but I predict I will be adding to this thread throughout the evening

There are all kinds of variations amongst the 6 too

One of them has only a patent number on it - doesn't mention Leatherman at all on the handles

I have to go to a parents' evening shortly, but when I get back I'll start cleaning them up and having a closer look.

It's likely that there are some duplicates in here, in which case I might sell some on - let's see

Several differences! I'm just cleaning them up a bit and having a closer look - but there are definitely a few variations.....

OK, I've had a look and of the 6 PSTs pictured before, there are 5 different variations (1 duplicate). They break down as follows:

4	Knurled Screws	Leatherman USA	No	US PAT 4 238 862 (That's all!)	Leatherman
5	Knurled Screws	Leatherman USA	Yes	Leatherman Tool Portland OR	Leatherman USA

The sixth one is the same as #1.

All have the original drop point blade, imperial only ruler and identical plier head casting, milled awl and other "old" characteristics.

I'll have a look at how all this fits in with the findings in the PST Chronology project tomorrow.

Man what a haul

I would say that it might go like this without actually holding and looking at them

Number 2 maybe the oldest followed by possibly 3 then 1 and six with 4 a 5 finishing out the list

that is just speculative of course

so your list is ordered like this 2,3,1,6,4,5 of course I really have no actual idea where 4 falls in so it may be the oldest
