Hows the olight working for ya Ben?
This light is primarilly a dog walk at night light. Im not really asking a lot from it. Plus amazon had a killer deal with extra batteries and included charger. Also the Olight was something different to tryout.
Olights magnetic charger is by far my personal favorite feature of the torch. How lazy can it get. The simpleton Red light charging,Green light charged light emitting diode takes the guess work out of that whole battery charging process. +1
Mode tap function is still something to get used to for me. Streamlights approach is hardwired to my thumb. The Olight is a bit fidgety for my taste. If its hit right, mode output transitions smoothly without tapping away.
Moonlight mode is a cool feature and sees the most use walking through the neighborhood. It really is just enough to stay low key. The strobe does disorientate so the Olight has that going for it. High output is hit and miss.
High output lasts for a few seconds then bumps down to the next lowest output mode. I havent looked too much into it. Maybe the battery is not at full charge when that occurs. Honestly I dont need that blast of light for picking up a pooch poo in a neighbors front yard. For me its a fun feature to show off to the airliners starting their approach to land.
Its size is another thing to grow on me. As is CR123 powered lights and price. This thing is a little lump. Its fine on the brim of a hat where it spends all its time outbwalking. Pocket carry in pants is a no go for me. Even breast pocket carry feels odd compaired to the microstream thats been carried for a few years. I couldnt EDC this light for work.
An instagram (full of idiots) phrase some idiot wrote "beam flow" I guess describes the distance and width of coverage of this Olight SR1 Baton. Doggo and I see just fine with it.
I enjoy the little power house. It keeps us safeish on nightly walks, finds the poo and points pilots towards Albany International.
