No Models Match My Selection
on: April 21, 2017, 06:13:14 PM
Interesting. I used the SAK Selector function to see whether a knife existed that had what I would consider to be the perfect SAK. It said that no models featured the tool combination I was looking for. My ideal SAK would be red celidor, 84-91 mm with the following tools: Large Spearpoint blade, Nail File, Woodsaw, Scissors, Can-opener (Vic style), Caplifter/large screw driver, Reamer, corkscrew, Toothpick and tweezers. Too bad. I'd buy several of them.

Basically a huntsman with nailfile in place of the small blade? Sounds good.  :drink:
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

So much for the "selector" function. Thanks a bunch guys. Although I thought to be done with SAK purchases for quite some time, it looks like there will be an EVO or Evogrip 17 in my near future!!! Funny, because what made me think of this was my Vic Evogrip 14. I said to myself, "If this had a wood saw, it'd be perfect!"

A Ranger is a close match I think? If you can find an old one. The old style metal file works well as a nail file.
Or buy a Huntsman and replace the hook with one from a Compact which has a small nail file.
Or get a Huntsman plus a Classic.

That Delemont surely has a nail file, not small blade. I have the one in EvoGrip handles.

Victorinox is very clever with their tool selection across the model range.

I am convinced they purposefully avoid making the perfect SAK to keep me hooked on that quest. In the meantime I find myself buying multiple SAKs that suit my needs 90%. Almost perfect, but not quite... :ahhh

The Artisan would match your wants, if memory serves. :thinks:  Good luck finding one, though, as it's been discontinued for a good while; I've not had one for a couple years now.

The Artisan, while an awesome looking knife, lacks the corkscrew and nail file.

To be honest, I couldn't quite remember. Perhaps getting a modder to make the knife you want (I can highly vouch for TattooSteve) would be the route to take.

I forgot about the Evo17; it's an excellent knife. You just want to get the Victorinox Delemont version of it. Very handy knife, and also available in yellow.
