My latest multi...Camp Buddy Multitool!
on: April 24, 2017, 01:40:31 AM
I found this online while looking for something else, and I am glad I tripped over it!  Most cheapies I buy just end up being rebranded tools, and for the most part, they are pretty much all the same. Some are also just downright bad quality. This one is different! This has a design unlike that of anything I have seen before, and as its name implies, it was probably meant for outdoor or emergency use. Here are the good points of this tool, and there are many!

1. The pliers are smooth and very comfortable in the hand. They are also spring loaded.
2. The two main blades, a plain edged knife, and the serrated one, both lock. They were both pretty sharp out of the box. As you can see by the photos, the serrated blade also has a belt cutter. The small indentation you see in the front bottom part of the blade if for the fire starter.
3. Both blades are accessible without opening the tool. As a matter of fact, all of the other tools can be used without opening the pliers. The fire starter and screw driver bit, are in the tools body, and slide right out. There is a glass breaker right near the bit holder.
4. The bit holder on the end of the tool uses standard sized 1/8 inch bits, so you can use ones form other tool sets.
5. I have not tried the can or bottle opener, but it seems very solid.
6. It came with a top quality hard sheath.

The bad?

1. Opening the tool is a bit stiff at first, but I would bet would loosen with time.
2. The screw driver bit that came with it fits the holder a bit too loosely.

All and all, I am really happy with it, and I only paid $25.00. It is a bit on the large and heavy side, but I like that!. It is almost 5 inches long closed, and the blades are about 3 inches long. I think it is one of the best tools I have purchased in a while!

I agree. I am looking at a few more odd tools. My poor photos do not do this multitool justice though. It has a really nice finish and my pics are too dark, and show a lot of dust.  ???  It also looks like Postimage snuck a link to some piece of software when I added my photos. I cannot delete it.

Not sure why the pics have disappeared on this one Mike - I'll flag it up with the technical bods - see what they say.  :salute:

Interesting. Maybe it is a problem on my work laptop. We have a firewall here also, but have not received any warnings.  I will see if I have the same problem when I get home. Thanks everybody!

I saw this thing. It looks really cool. There is another one like it but instead of the serrated blade theres piece of metal with a "bolts cutout ladder" to act as a set of wrenches- & it has a corkscrew plus two bits for the bit slot instead of just one. Has anyone seen this other one & what name brand was on it? (Henstrong makes gear for other companies to put their name on)
