3x01 - Sierra Nevada.

Wave in this one. Took apart flashlight to make fire.

He had a fixed blade too.

Sawing for paiute traps.

Triggered, but not collapsed.

He took a moment to explain that while fire is important, he must be careful with it. Everything is pretty dry around him, and a small spark could result in a rogue fire.

Wild edibles.

Removing the strings to make a guitar trap.

The critters would go in through the tube but not be able to come back out again.
Also, a nice view of the foxed blade in the sheath.

Quite a surprise in this one, as far as MTs are concerned.
Note: He had two horses with him for this one.

Thistle.

The fixed blade got some use.

He found a deer carcass.

He broke the flashlight's bulb with the knife's spine, taking care to keep the filament intact, put tinder in, and turned it on to create a spark. And it worked.

He had a fly fishing rod with him. So nice to see him catch fish. Young brook trouts.

Oh hello.  :D What do we have here?

I think it's a Gerber Flik. Any positive IDs?

No multi-tools shown.  :-\
Rather bummed out by this one. Still, I took some pics while waiting to see a multi-tool, which never happened, so I might as well post those.
This is not a bad episode. Do not let the absence of multi-tools prevent you from watching it. It's rather enjoyable.

He had a Winchester knife which got a lot of use. That's whale blubber.

Titanium beanie and jacket? That's gonna be expensive.

Arctic char.

He caught four!

Not sure if the fillet knife is Winchester too. The handles look similar, maybe it's a set?

Gotta love HD.

Scraping whale blubber to make oil lamp, traditionally called kudlik. Soak cloth in, and ignite for warmth. It burns slowly, so it also preserves the fire.

3x04 - Temagami Hunting

Les had his friend Bob with him for this one. Firing three shots, waiting for Bob to respond, to find each other.

Hi Bob.  :waving:

Les had a hunting knife and a hatchet. Bob had a Buck 119.

This is from 3x02 - Colorado Rockies. Seems to be the same knife.

Either bait or dinner.

He's using the Flik to make snares.

Dinner again.

Wild cucumber.

Better view of Bob's Buck.

And his bow.

He got a squirrel. What a smile!  :D

And a grouse.

3x05 - Australian Outback.

No MTs in this one either. What's the big idea?

Here, he found some wire tangled in a bush, and said "I'll get my multi-tool and cut some." But nothing was shown.

He did show this.

He had one paper match.

If you're careful, you can split in right down the middle into two matches.

That's a yabby. Can you see him in there? Hello little fella.

Cut rope, separated cords, tied some beef jerky to the end.

They clamp on the meat, and you can actually pull them out of the water.

And there you have it. Dinner.

Hunting birds with rocks. You won't be surprised to learn that it did not work.

He bent the wire to hook grubs. What he bent it with, you ask? I do not know. It was not shown.

Hacking at the trees with the axe.

Witchetty grubs are the larvae of the ghost moth, and taste like peanut butter.

He found some rock paintings too.

And made some of his own.

3x06 - Papua New Guinea

Same knife as in 3x05 - Australian Outback.

He had a survival-in-a-tin kit, but the pull tab broke off.

Not to worry, the Flik will sort it out.

Cutting trash bag with the Flik.

He also made some traps for boars.

Great work mate. :salute:  I was never a devoted fan of the show, not that I didn't like it, just that I didn't make a huge effort to see every episode.  However I did see quite a few of these and am still gobsmacked I never noticed the Flik.

4x03 - Tiburón Island - Part 1

Apparently the Island episodes were before the Mountain episodes. Meh. I'll get to those shortly.
Also, no multitools.
But some Camillus items showed up. Nice of them.

Also, do they have to advertise another show for the full length of this, and with a logo that takes up half the screen?

Collecting useful items off the boat.

He made a water still.

That awesome moment when lunch washes up on the shore.

He cut up life jackets, to make shin guards for stingrays.

Since stingrays have no shins, he put them on his own.

He also collected oysters. What sort of monster could eat clams without oysters?

Removing dead skin with the folding knife.

He wiped the boat's surfaces with a cloth, and wrung it for water.

Water still. Sea water boils, the vapor condenses through the tube, into the bottle.

Lots of clams on the beach.

Fashioned a harpoon to cook the squid.

Same deal with this one. Both Camillus knives, but no multitools.  :-\

Cutting sail for bivy sack.

More tasty clams.

Shaving wood.

Made bow drill.

Removed bottle from fire.

He cut plastic bottles, and put hot water and a herb in, called Gobernadora, Spanish for "governess". Great for healing blisters.

About to eat a limpet.

Great work as always mate. :tu:  We've definitely moved beyond anything I've seen as I've not every watched one where he uses his own knives.  I'm very much looking forward to finding out if he uses his Wetterlings axe at any point.  No spoilers please people.  :D

Helle Temagami in this one.

He made a shelter with parts from the car. No roof, but at least there's protection from the wind.

He was really fond of the little portable stove from the car. Warmth and boiling water made a real difference out in the cold.

He found some cabins.

Hunters had left a deer carcass in a bag. Some meat, fat, and organs were left behind.
Les helped himself to a decent meal, which you are allowed to do in a survival situation.

Helle Temagami, and food prep.

Good for batoning too.

He hiked down to get to the shore, but got stuck.

Boiling the rest of the deer he had.

He had to exercise to stay warm.

Found some rose hips on the way.

Until he stumbled onto some unoccupied summer houses.

Searching for food along the shore, he found some blue mussels.

And a look in an old potato field got him bounty as well.

Remember the gas he got from the car? Time to get out of here.

He also had two flares, which he used. Kind of. They did not work, having expired in 1993.

You think finding Waldo is hard?

How would you feel about using spoiler tags for the posts? The scrolling and crashing on my phone is getting to me.

I kinda like scrolling along and seeing all the pics. Then again, I'm not on my phone.
What say you, guys? Should we shorten this thing with spoiler tags?

There is no option to just hide pics, like in quoted posts, is there?

He was really fond of the little portable stove from the car. Warmth and boiling water made a real difference out in the cold.

He found some cabins.

Hunters had left a deer carcass in a bag. Some meat, fat, and organs were left behind.
Les helped himself to a decent meal, which you are allowed to do in a survival situation.

Yeah, I have to say I think the Spoiler tags are the way to go.  It's fine as is on my laptop, but anything else struggles. :)

Well, if a brave soul does not mind editing, feel free to shorten the thread.

If at all possible, this format would be nice.
Episode title, to easily find the one you want.
The main tool used.
Pictures in spoiler tags.
Tools spotted so far, in spoiler tags.

Great work as always mate. :tu:  We've definitely moved beyond anything I've seen as I've not every watched one where he uses his own knives.  I'm very much looking forward to finding out if he uses his Wetterlings axe at any point.  No spoilers please people.  :D

I did not know he had an axe. I'll look out for it. He also has a Wetterlings hatchet.
More than a striking resemblance, I'd say. It matches perfectly. I'll comb the episode for a better pic of the hatchet, but I am convinced it is that one in the episode.

Not sure if/when I'll go through the already posted stuff. The way you are posting it now is excellent, thank you.

Your post got me thinking... It all comes down to lists. You know what makes a list even better? Hotlinking everything.

How cool would it have been if he had used the Temagami knife in the Temagami episode?  :o
Maybe it hadn't been released then. But there's another episode called Temagami, maybe he'll use it in that.
