Watch those sharp knives!
on: May 01, 2017, 10:13:17 AM
While cutting plastic ties when opening a pack of tie down straps yesterday, my Kershaw Clash slipped and I ended up with a three hour tour of the local ER. Nine stitches later...

Thanks!  Doc said stitches can come out in 7-10 days. Doc said good thing the knife was PE and extremely sharp. Made the cut nice and clean and straight. Should heal well.

I did nick an artery. While setting in the ER, once they started working on it, with each heartbeat the blood was pumping out!

Surprisingly little pain right now.

Doesn't look like they did a very good job of washing your hand before stitching   :o

I nearly hacked off my left thumb, years ago, with the serrated blade of a Buck Ecco. Cut all the way to the bone and I had to wear a splint for almost two weeks. It healed well, no scars, but there is some loss of dexterity.

Yeah, glad I don't like serrated blades so much. Would have made the wound much worse. I told them I had recently sharpened it and it is why it made a nice clean even cut. Should help it to heal quickly.

I bet that stung a bit.  If it will make you feel any better, you can send that evil Kershaw to me and I'll have it exorcised of all of its demons and send it back to you.  I must warn you though, that the process could take years.

I agree with Alan. I think we'd all sleep safer knowing that all sharp objects were removed from your house Zman. You should book yourself on NNR's blade safety course for 3-5 year olds. If you pass the course you can present the certficate to Alan and he'll probably give you your sharps back.  :salute:

No tendons or ligaments hit, did nick an artery but it's all good now. Well, 9 stitches but could have been worse!

It was a Kershaw Black Gulch that took the very tip off my finger about 15 years ago. They must be cursed  :o

my Kershaw A100 bit me when swapping its blade,

and my Kershaw Nura cut me because of its slippery stainless steel handles and weak detent   :P

Kershaw is dangerous to me...
