Add 58mm retractable pen apparatus to a 91mm scale

Would there be a way to take the retractable pen out of a signature and mod a 91mm scale to fit it? would there be room past the rivets? It would be nice to be able to use a standard 91mm SAK as a pen body without adding real bulk, as an alternative to struggling with, and potentially losing, a tiny removable pen shaft. I know the pen scale is thicker on a 58mm than average 58mm scales, but visually it looks to be exactly the same thickness as 91mm scales. Any advice welcome, thanks.

EDIT: while I can't see it too clearly since my scales are transparent red, it looks like it would just barely be able to clear on the tweezer side, but for the middle rivet. The gray plastic slide piece would be facing the wrong way anywhere on the toothpick side that would clear the rivets. Damn.

EDIT 2: going the other direction, why isn't the attached picture a thing yet?
