Excellent!
I really like the tool config of the urban knife. Reminds me of the SpatuClimber but just a little:

I've always wanted to make it into a one layer SAK. Too bad the spatula is hard to get (or at least expensive). https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,2881.msg529861.html#msg529861

Thanks for the info & pics

The 'SpatuClimber' was my inspiration, and the reason I built this mod. I tried finding one of those for quite some time but with no succes. Then I saw GigaHZ's picture of the spatula layer, I asked him if it was for sale, it was, and that got the ball rolling for these mods  :D

If you want to make a mod with the spatula I think waiting for a good deal on a XLT is the best way. Don't start drilling in that nice rare SpatuClimber

It's been 18 months since I finished my first two mods, and it's time to blow the dust off this topic. I'm planning to do some mods, and although I haven't decided what I want to try exactly and I still need more parts, last weekend I started chopping up a couple of SAKs. A couple of weeks ago I received my brand new drill press along with some other stuff I ordered (a machine vice, some small ball peening hammers, pin punches) that I am just dying to use.

I decided to sacrifice a Wenger Matterhorn Plus, a SwissChamp XLT and a Climber for now.

First thing to do is marking the center on the pins.

Then let's start drilling!

Then it's using the pin punch to tap out the pins.

When this is all finished it's time to take apart the SAKs and cleaning this mess (everything is sticky with oil residues). When this is all done, I was left with this pile of materials.

Let's sort it all out and put it in a nice box:

to be continued

Thanks  :salute:

Also I made this handy tool which I can use to try out tool combinations:

These pins are permanently attached to the wood so I have a solid set of pins to try out tool combinations.

I also drilled a second set of holes that are one size wider than the pins itself, these are meant to assist me with assembling a SAK. I think that for this purpose it will be practical for the holes to be a bit wider so that the pins fit in a bit loosely, so I can easily take the assembled knife out when it's ready. I'll see how it goes when I start using it.
