I'd say that's pretty neat, do you end up sitting on it? Or is it far enough over?

The pocket is on the side, so you do not end up sitting on it.

Hmm, interesting, I got a bunch of hem cut offs, my only worry would be of them falling out.

You custom fit the pocket to the knife so that it is snug enough that the knife can't fall out.

I have been doing this for over 30 years and have never had a knife fall out.

I originally made a pocket like this to carry a Buck 110 folder that I had bought on a closeout because it had no sheath. After that I started using the pockets for other knives.

Interesting, I was always for sheaths, that was until I got a benchmade ATS-34 with a pocket clip. I'm still one for the sheaths but, that was more or less for the large sak or mt's, while the pocket knife was clipped in. But then I kinda fell in love with the alox sak, my larger one still needs the sheath but the other two everyday carrys the farmer and pioneerX are pocket carry, so I kinda went unique, I put clips on them, this way I got my clip carry but also my tools all in one..

I think Vicman has already won this thread, but for completeness sake:

  • Sheath carry in belt
  • Pocket carry
  • Put it in a bag
  • Pocket carry, but using belt hanger
  • Pocket carry, but using a suspension clip attached to the key ring
  • Pocket carry, using a strap attached to the belt loop.
  • Pocket carry using a custom pocket clip
  • Dangling from a lanyard around your neck
  • Kydex slip sheath
  • Pocket / waist band /  belt carry in clip sheath
  • In the top of a boot
  • In a wallet
  • In a jacket pocket
  • In a sheath in a bag
  • In a body cavity
  • On the key ring
  • Clipped on a carabiner
  • In your hand, ready for anything that comes along!
  • In a dedicated knife pocket
  • In Inkster's bloomers
  • Around your neck and under the armpit like a sling bag, covered by a jacket

(Please correct me if I have missed any.)

In my jeans watch pocket, with a short leather wallet rope attached to it, that clips to my belt loop.

Also I keep one hidden somewhere in my motorcycle.

A hollow rear axle? I knew a guy who smuggled pot in it.

So, come on, please add any and all smart/creative/stupid/thread derailing/legendary impractical methods you have used, seen or can think of. And if you wonder if two different things may be pretty much the same thing, no, they aren't, explicit is better than implicit.

In your mouth, like a pirate (example: Tampa Bay Buccaneers old logo)
In your hat's hat band
Attached to body art (ear ring, nose ring, nipple ring, #%$#@ ring)
In your wife's/girlfriend's cleavage
Placed behind ear, like a pencil
Stuck inside the hollowed-out handle of a fixed blade knife
Wrapped and carried in a furoshiki (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furoshiki, http://www.env.go.jp/en/focus/attach/060403-5.html)
Attached to a bindle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bindle)
Balanced on your nose
Kept in mid-air by repeatedly kicking it like a hacky sack
