Recommendation for a waist pack
on: May 14, 2017, 03:02:00 PM
Folks,

I am looking for a lightweight carrying method for say a rain jacket, extra pair of socks, external water bottle, and maybe a few additional small items (trail bar, wallet, SAK, keys, small flashlight). I was looking at the Osprey Talon 6 as it seems to fit my needs. I was wondering if 1) anyone has experience with the Talon 6 and 2) any other recommendations.

My excursions usually last less than 1-2 hours; occasionally half a day. I have several day pack but was looking to downsize. Thanks for any useful insight and comments.

There's the Maxpedition Proteus, and it's larger predecessor whose name I don't quite remember.

Mountainsmith makes some nice lumbar packs that are pretty lightweight for what you get.

Amazon usually has prices well under MSRP on these.
