Modding a Marlboro Outdoorsman
on: May 16, 2017, 12:39:25 AM
I'm thinking of getting a marlboro outdoorsman to mod into either a woodsman or if there isn't enough pin length a yeoman with saw. I'm planning on using new scales.

This will be my first mod.

Will there be enough pin length after drilling out the pins and removing the fish scaler to reuse the pins or should l use this for the Yeoman plus saw and get a Champion to turn into the woodsman?

Ultimately l want to try out both SAK's so l'll be building both.

Cheers George

Not a pro and could be wrong here but I think the marlboro has a double layer - no liner between the saw and scaler.
Drilling out a collar (if you're careful) eats approx 1.5mm, scaler is approx 1.5mm, leaves no pin for peening.
The yeoman plus saw gives you a couple more mm (opener layer plus liner) to work with.

This is a much better plan.  Good luck!
