on:

Is the side to side precision in the pliers any good? Any play there? Do the wirecutters cut thin soft wire?
Looking for a one hand opening mt for fly fishing.

Should mention for fresh water I use a gerber mp400 fisherman with anvil cutters and for salt water I use a sog blacktip.

I would say that the pliers are no-go.
Maybe its just bad QC, but my both switchpliers have/had useless pliers, unable to cut anything. There is no side to side play, but the steel is just too soft, and loses its alignment easy.
Useless pliers meaning they both wont cut anything. Anything at all. Well I havent tried the newer ones much, just tried to cut paperclip, but its just bended the cutters.
Maybe you have a chance to try them out beforehand?

I need an MT that can cut thin soft wire, like the 25 lbs tracer wire I use for leader when pike fishing. The only ones that manages that so far is Leatherman 154CM replaceable ones, but my OHT, was no good. Looking for a one handed tool that can do that job.

my Switchplier didn't do very well with thin wire
