No.  The pins that usually locate the head in the MP600 sliding groove in the handles have been ground off all MP650 heads.

Don't give up! Gerber actually made and distributed a Cable Cutter version of the MP600, complete with a sliding cable cutter head! Keep looking for the dream!

Don't forget to look everywhere, including Craig's List, found a military technician version of the 650 there about a year ago for around $125. My wife's idea, and it paid off.

sLaughterMed: Did the cable cutter MP600 have a name? I would love to find one of those.

pa_strunk: Thanks for the other places to look.   I will let my son know. He uses Craig's List all the time.

That option would likely be more robust than the genuine Gerber Cable Cutter head (it was designed for use only on soft copper cables - I've seen pictures of a few where the cutting edge was damaged by people using them on tougher materials eg steel).  I wouldn't give up entirely on finding an MP600 Cable Cutter, they do come up on US ebay from time to time (but usually go for a premium price).

But that is what I would be cutting, soft copper cables from 14 guage on up to 00. Is "MP600 Cable Cutter" what I should search for?
Thanks for all of this info!

I'd search for that, as I don't think the Paul Chen would take it. I've dinged mine twice trying to cut wire...

If you are going to be cutting lots of cables a dedicated cable cutter with forged (not cast) jaws would be a better option (cheaper & more robust).

If you still want a Gerber MP600 cable cutter then I suggest you use gerber cable cutter (without quotes) as your search term.

It's a Paul Chen Multitasker. Heinnie Haynes is the only place I've seen that has them reliably in stock, but they are "old stock" and once they finally sell them all, they will be gone. Link: https://www.heinnie.com/hanwei-paul-chen-multi-tasker

You can find them on the trade forums occasionally too, but every year they get less and less common. IMO it isn't a great tool, but the shears (which are really the only good part of the tool) are a direct swap into an MP600 frame, and makes for a great gardening tool.

Yes you should avoid cables with the Multitasker shears. Good for gardening, bad for cabling
