Leatherman Style mod
on: June 01, 2017, 03:07:14 PM
I had a couple of tools that had began to loose pocket time because of defective tool sets. One was my beloved Style CS. The scissors had become dull and pretty useless.
The other was the Gerber Dime. While the pliers worked fine the other tools had an awful lot of play in them. I don't like loose tools!
For a while I had been contemplating buying a style PS and swapping over my blade form the CS.

I was bored today so I decided to see if the Dime's pliers would fit the CS frame.  And they do...

I had added the scissors from the Dime on the same side as the blade. However I didn't like how it was hard to get to them. Plus they kinda suck anyway. So I just took them back off.

That's a cool mod. Don't throw away the scissors though... It can still be sharpened.

I use the Spyderco sharpmaker for that... it has a special angle made for scissors... 25° if I'm not mistaken...

Nicely done! I think that Leatherman should consider offering a Style PK Pliers Knife version. It would pair nicely with Victorinox Pioneers.

That's cool!

One of my roommates and I both bought the Style PS intending to swap the scissors for the blade on the Style CS.  I never did it because after carrying it for a few days I realized that I aways had a bigger more accessible blade on me.  I almost never use the scissors, but I don't mind them being there.
I never checked to see if my roommate ever got around to making his "Style PK"

I didn't know the dime pliers were so similar in size.

Got a chance to use the pliers this morning. My son broke my wife's necklace. I whipped out the pliers and BOOM! Fixed in 30s.
Sorry no pics. She was in a hurry to leave
