June Donation Draw- Stick it to them!

As usual I had a plan for the Donation Draw- no, really, I did!   

But then Syph007 made me an offer I couldn't refuse.  And you wouldn't either if you saw what he was offering.  Really, I mean it.  You should see the pictures.  Still don't believe me?  Well, fine, have it your way, here's a picture now:



See?  Now don't you feel a little silly for doubting me?   

Anyways, he has graciously offered this prize to us to give away this month, and trust me, you want it, but it gets even cooler, because this knife has a story behind it, and we all love good stories!



Like all good stories, this one includes a villain with his head stuck up his own bottom- in this particular case, our dumb bad guy is the editor of a certain motorcycle magazine who commissioned Syph007 (or as we call him, Bob) to make this knife, and the decided not to pay for it, instead claiming that Bob should send the knife free so that the editor can write and article and give Bob free advertising.



The thing is, Bob doesn't need to advertise- he's already flat out with making knives, each one as gorgeous as this brass handled, custom machined Spartan.  So, Bob figured that if the editor of a magazine doesn't want to pay for things, then he isn't going to get things... and if Bob is going to donate a knife, he wants to donate where it counts- like Multitool.org. 



So here's where we are at- every $10 donation you make to the Forum Operational Fund not only helps to keep the lights on here at MTO, but it also is a show of support for Bob and a rude gesture to someone who thinks they are far too important to pay for things because he's special!



So how do you get this beautiful knife and flip off the editor?  Simple- you just donate $10 to the Forum Operational Fund by clicking the big orange button on the right of your screen, the Donations link at the top or the text link I just posted.  They all go to the same place, which is this place:

Every $10 you donate gets you one entry- $20 gets you two entries, $60 gets you 6 entries and a thousand dollars gets you your own custom designed knife from Bob. 



If we make our goal of $275 before midnight (Forum Offset Time to be fair) on June 30th we will draw a winner from the pile of entries.  If we don't make the goal then maybe this knife gets sent in disgrace to Motorcycle Guy, and we all know he's not worthy so we can't let that happen.



That's it. If that doesn't make you want to donate, I don't know what will!

Oh yeah, and since it is more likely that we will hit the goal by midnight on the 15th, I will add an Early Bird Prize if we do, but don't get too excited because it won't be anywhere near as cool as the main prize, but don't worry, if you win the Early Bird Draw, you are still in for the big one!

It is, and not just editors.  All types of hacks will tell companies they want things free to write reviews about.  Yelp is a big one that people use to try and get free stuff.

When I initially contacted companies when I started MTO looking for contacts for information, many of them thought I was looking for free stuff to review.  All I wanted was information but some of them just didn't believe me.  Since then the only times I have looked for handouts was each year for our anniversary celebration, and that's not for me, that's for all of you.

Just wanted to mention the scales are internally pocketed to reduce some of the weight, and this weighs in at 88 grams.  The texture on the scales give a really positive grip.  The brass is C260 cartridge brass so it should age like ammo casings would over time.     This is also thinner than a standard spartan since the outer liners are dropped and has a really nice solid feel to it.
