Thought I'd test my firebox nano with wood burning and also go for my fire badge as well.
Mora knife for making the feather sticks, ferro rod and striker to light them
Wood all ready to go as well
Small sticks to get it going after the feather sticks are lit
And the main pile to burn which is old bits of fence wood
I used the ferro rod to light a feather stick with a bit of fatwood dust to help it as I'm not to good at doing fine feather yet, then dropped it onto the feathers in the stove, and added the small sticks straight away.
Once it got going I fed it the main wood from both the top and side slots
Once it was going properly I put the kettle on for a brew
While it was heating I processed the remaining wood down smaller to feed it easier
10 mins later a nice fruit tea for me to settle my stomach and a coffee for me mum
Seeing as I had plenty of wood left I just fed it until I ran out
The coals didn't last long. 30 mins after this and they had burnt away and the stove was cool enough to handle
Not bad for my first go with it using wood. I learned a few things I need to do for next time. Sharpen my crappy axe for one.
