Still haven't got around to getting some cool paint for my handles.
But I did however contact leatherman about the crooked handles to see what they thought because they bug me every time I put them out of the sheath.
This was Leatherman Australia's response to my question:

Hi Tom,
I have seen a few like this in the past, but when opened up to use the pliers, the pliers are still flush.
All Leatherman tools are hand made so there have been imprefections in the past, but none that would affect performance of the tool.
If you aren't satisfied you could send it in to warranty by downloading the warranty form at leatherman.com.au and filling it out accordingly.

I was pretty satisfied with the response but unsure as to whether I will be sending the tool in or not?
