SAK pliers rock!   They can boldly go into places no other pliers could fit,
and they'll tighten the odd nut when a wrench isn't handy.

Provided the nut isn't too big, of course.  Most SAK pliers are rather limited
in how far they'll open.  The 85mm Wenger pliers are a significant exception.
They are slipjoint pliers, so they can grab onto larger objects.

Wenger NewRanger pliers are excellent needlenose pliers, but do not open as far as the others.

The pliers on the 108mm Aitor Al-Ligator and Fisherman will open to over 135º.
Possibly the most capable pliers you can get on a knife.

this questions seems to come up every little while, with good reason!
you gotta/wanna know! I did ;)

like mentioned, do not mistake them for regular, dedicated pliers but
they can do the job, provided it's not to big for them.

IMO it is way better to have them then nothing at all,
they are small/hobby like but, they come in handy.

I run IT for our office and find the SAK pliers very useful for working on electronics. They are perfect for moving jumpers, unhooking stuck coax cables, fishing dropped screws out, etc.

SAK pliers very useful for working on electronics.

Yup, that's what I was going to say...for electronics type stuff they are great.

I wish they were designed with a slightly larger wire cutter area though.

I have a Deluxe Tinker they have the pliers and I really like them

But as has been said they are mainly for intricate type jobs not for anything heavy duty :)

Since no one has mentioned them, the regular Wenger SAK pliers have a little more usefulness IMO.  :tu: They are a slip-joint type pliers so the can handle smaller or larger size jobs with relative ease. While I would not do any major automotive mechanic work with mine they do wonderfully in a pinch. The jaws open up quite wide indeed for an SAK pliers. There are 2 wire cutters, and you could do a simple crimp job too if you need, although I like the Victorinox SAK pliers crimper better. The length comparison between the 2 changes things if you need to reach something since the Victorinox pliers are longer. Another consideration for comparison is the Wenger Pliers is operated by the knife back spring while the Victorinox Pliers have the fixed handle with separate spring similar to the VIC scissors. I must admit the movement of the whole tool on the Wenger while in use might make some prefer the Vic set instead. Here is a couple of photos;

Hope this helps. :climber:

The thing that mine get used for most is bending my three year olds glasses back into shape. ::)  For picking up, pulling and holding things in place they work just fine.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

I would assume that the spring on the Wenger pliers does not work at the 90 degree position.  Is that true?
