Spyderco Saver Salt
on: June 12, 2017, 05:37:36 PM
so, been looking for a rust resistant folder, locking, serrated blade and non pointed - was going for the manbug salt but it looks too small for what i want - the saver atlantic is too big, but just right seems the saver salt.

Does anyone have one and if so, opinions and pics of course, please

You may have found the One.....

I was in the shop on Saturday, they've got the Atlantic Salt and the Salt 1 in stock.

The Salt 1's handle ergos don't work for me AT ALL, while the Atlantic feels great.....but I also feel the Atlantic is too big even if very light....

The ATS 34 steeled version, known as the ClipIt Rescue was used by the US Coast Guard before getting replaced with the switchblade Autonomy, so it has to be a good knife.   I bought a smaller knife, a Ladybug hawkbill in H1, and I found the steel a bit soft for my tastes. When I lost it, I ended up getting the larger, USA made, GIN-1 steel UKPK, as it was the same price, $35.

I've got a Salt 1 and like it very much.  I take it to the beach with me and keep it either clipped to my pocket or waistband.  Even after days spent either in the pool or in the ocean I haven't ever gotten any rust on it.  Plus I like how light it is.  I don't need a big heavy knife pulling my swim trunks down.

I love all the H1 Spudercos and have 3-4 of the Salt series if I remember correctly. I highly suggest the full serrated.

Pics soon

I believe it's stainless  :D rather than rust proof.

I mentioned it because of the ergos......seems like for me the only Spyderco handles that work are those with the finger choil.

This will be used in salt water and sometimes I won't have a chance to wash it after use. So I'm still thinking H1. The manbug salt originally caught my eye but its too small really I think for me the saver is the correct size the others seem too big/small for what I want it for - which is a folder I can leave in the pocket of my buoyancy aid and forget about it until I need it. Probably and hopefully the most common use will be spreading peanut butter  :D

yeah, the ladybug/manbug seems real small - i don't know a whole pile about steel, what were you doing that you found the steel soft ?

Gerhard, i don't suppose they had the saver salt in that shop you were in ? seriouslu thinking thats the one for me
