New DAK collector
on: June 17, 2017, 07:42:07 PM
Hi fellow collectors!
I am new here. Though not a fanatic collector, I managed to collect some very fine Dutch Army Knives (DAK). The center piece of my collection is of course the Vic Air Force Survival Knife (Master Craftsman) with blue aluminium slabs. It dates end of the Fifties. About 500 were made. Now only a handfull still excist. Some 200 knives were lost, stolen, broken. or just fanished. The remaining 300 have been shattered on a concrete hangar floor with a forehammer in the Nineties at Gilze-Rijen AFB. I spoke to a witness…
The blue celidor Vic with imprinted “KLU EIGENDOM” is also a Dutch Air Force Survival Knife. KLU means Koninklijke Luchtmacht (Royal Air Force) and EIGENDOM means property/ownership. Only 110 pieces were ever made.
Enjoy the pics!

Welcome!  Nice collection. I also collect military knives, primarily American and Swiss, with a number of Canadian, British, and German knives as well; basically anything I know was an actually used and issued item (not a replica) for cheap.   I'm after a Dual Pro, but the AEMFA DAKs aren't really hard to find for a good price, which to me is $20 or under.

I think it was an incredibly ignorant move to destroy those Master Craftsmen in my opinion.  I mean, it's not like a 3 inch pocketknife was something that could be deadly dangerous, like explosives would be, for example.

Nice collection!  Welcome aboard!

A few of those ex-Dutch SAKs managed to find refuge in the US.

Bad news for ColoSwiss. I did an extensive research, and I found out that your two Dutch knives are compeletely fakes, most certainly made in Turkmenistan by an Australian  sponsored drugs syndicate from Taiwan. So the best thing you can do is send the knives to me, so I can exhibited them in my famous Swiss DAK Fake Collection. >:D

Seriously, I envy you for having them!  ;) Beautiful pieces and rare too!

Today I took a closer look at ColoSwiss "KLU EIGENDOM" Vic, and it seems that th eletters are silver colored??
If so... than that is very special.
In a few month I will receive one of these blue celidor Dutch Air Force DAK's without any text, and without the Vic emblem. Unfortunately it has seen some heavy duty use, but still it is in good condition. And I will receive it straight from an Air Force guy, so it is authentic.

A better shot of the Walther and Mauser. The NATO was a commercial offering rather than official issue.

Also imitation and genuine stag handles.

I think what EMZ means is a bit wider: a thread with not only army issued models, but everything related to military/law enforcement/government/related industries  :D  :salute:

Exactly, Glenfiddich! That's what I mean. (BTW: Beautiful website of yours!)

Here is an example of what I mean:
There was a time that the Swiss SIG company produced/assembled lots of Sturmgewehr 90 rifles and P210 pistols. As for I know now SIG has no business anymore in military items.
However, in the better days SIG had at least two promotional SAK's with the SIG logo on it. The knife with SIG (in italics) is the older type.

Yesterday, my first DAK along with my first 84mm Golfer arrived from Canada.

I could see how these DAKs could have a potent addictive quality....  breathe... think about your children, your mortgage, your debt... (yeah  right  :D)
