Ladies and gents,If like me you are fed up of fighting the old sharpening stones can I recommend to you the Lansky sharpening system.Got mine about two days ago and have used it on several knives and got them shaving sharp. This is a VERY good bit of kit considering I got mine on hellbay for less then £30.With it came the oil, knife clamp and extra coarse, coarse, medium, fine and ceramic ultra fine stones with their holders in a convenient plastic carry case the size of an old walkman.Get one, you wont regret it, Flash
Jock,I don't know is the answer...I have used it mainly on 6-8". I will try it tonight on an old machete and get back to you ASAP Take care,Flash
Mike,No probs mate, I am happy to use a stone but for "defining" a blade , or repairing a badly damaged one I need some help and the lansky does just that. Jock,The lansky managed a 11" machete OK. Any bigger than that and you may need to doe the blade bit by bit...but for my largest blade it worked a treat. Hope this helps,Nick
The trouble I found with the Lansky was the blade kept moving in the clamp when sharpening a heavy Multitool like a Swisstool or Supertool . I find the sharpmaker so easy to use . Ben you cant mess the edge up mate . Just be carefull when you sharpen near the tip as you can round off the point if your careless . If you get one I'll go into depth over the phone with you if you like .Dunc

FWIW, I just bought a Sharpmaker for my buddy's birthday present. If it's as good as everyone says it is I may have to get one. My excuse for forgoing the belt sander is I can take the Sharpmaker anywhere. Kinda hard to do with a belt sander.
I wonder what Benner charges for "cart handler" fees? Hey Ben?!
