Clasp on the Tread
on: June 22, 2017, 02:03:48 AM
I think the Tread is a really cool idea that just wouldn't really work for me.  But my brother's birthday is coming up soon and he has been talking about getting one for over a year now.  He really wants to use it as a watch band for the watch that he has.

I could be wrong about some of this but after doing a little bit of research and looking at pictures, it seems to me that the Tread only has about 4-5 of the tool links left after you add the watch.  So if my brother has fairly small wrists then there will only be about 4 links left.  Even with Leathermans crazy $20 price for each link, I could save money by just buying 4-5 links individually.

So does anyone know why Leatherman doesn't sell the clasp link???  Or does anyone know where I could buy just the clasp?
 ???

I also have skinny wrists and had to take of 1 full link plus the 1/4 in one.  If I wanted the Tread snug I'd need to remove 2 full links.  I'm not sure of the configuration with the watch adapters.

Heres what I saw those wanting to add the watch using.  I've seen some hacks as well.

I'll check out that cheaper option.  I too was thinking of chronolinks.  Between the cost of the Tread and the Chronolinks, this is turning into a rather expensive gift.   :(

He could always use it as a choker...

:D   I read that in an earlier thread.  Not sure if it was you or someone else who said it before,     I was laughing, (which, could be bad if people wonder if I am actually getting work done in my office)

The crazy thing is, as ridiculous as it would be for someone to wear a Tread around their neck (because it would be very difficult to get on and off without modifications) I would actually be very turned on by a hot girl wearing a Tread as a choker.  I looked on google image to see if there was any chick cool enough to have done that, but sadly the most creative thing I could find was someone using it as a dog collar for their lab.  :(
