Yes... I KNOW

Just that the explorer is my #1 favorite Sak but I can't let down that pioneer large blade and awl

I'm just dreaming of the day Victorinox will release an Alox Explorer !!!

By the way, just for information, could anyone mod an explorer to Alox and ship it to France?

My preferred combo is a 93mm (Pioneer X 99.9% of the time) and a larger locking OHO folder like a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 or Benchmade 940.

Sounds like a solid combo but lacks in SAKness  :D  :pok:

And I'll ask what we're awl thinking....  How do you survive without toothpick & tweezers??   :D

Thanks, LC, I like the Wenger chains so I have them on many Vics as well. I don´t carry them on my keychain though, nothing there but keys.

Interesting, El C.

I used to be devoted to the Farmer & Classic combo. Now the PX has become my favorite 93mm. So I no longer feel the need for a Classic with it's small scissors. After the PX challenge....the PX seems to tick all the boxes, with the exception of T&T.

I went fishing a few days ago with this combo:

The tool I used the most? The Classic. Super easy to pull the little guy out. The scissors came in handy many times when changing lures. The knife was used a couple of times to open packaging. And the T&T each got used once.

The tweezers got used to pick out a small swivel from a small bag. The toothpick got used to free the line from the line keeper on the reel. The line had been pulled tight when it was being stored in the keeper and I couldn't pry it loose with fingers or finger nails. Didn't want to use something hard or sharp and risk damaging the line, so, toothpick to the rescue! (I really think we need a Toothpick badge for creative uses of the toothpick.  :tu:)

I don't carry a Classic. For a year or so I did have one on my key chain and never used it, then I noticed that the T&T were missing so I tossed it in my tackle box.
I normally carry a 84 or 91 mm Tourist or Spartan and my second knife is a Case Medium Stockman or a Peanut.

Highlander & Classic SD

This is a good one...  Unusual for me as i usually carry a corkscrew configuration in my cellidor carry...  but this combo makes an awful lot of sense,  especially since the Highlander does not tote toothpick & tweezers

Amen! Great combo El C.
The large inline and small magnetic philips complement each other perfectly..

I'm toting a rambler/explorer combo most of the time, and find the different blades and scissors serve different purposes.

Dare I say, redundancy is in the eye of the observer

Walker and Executive would do very nicely. :)
