Swisstool Challenge?
on: July 01, 2017, 08:23:10 AM
Been checking out the merit badges and found one for the Spirit,  but where is the one for it's big brother Swisstool.  I read a lot of love for it from many on here and love it myself.  It's never far from my side.  So how about a Merit Badge?  30 day challenge? :multi:

In theory someone hosts the challenge and then the badge gets sorted.
However July is our anniversary month and we're already running a challenge for that.
You can carry the SwissTool for the anniversary challenge or you can drum up some peeps and dibs August or whatever.

We don't have a August Challenge planned yet so a Swisstool challenge would be a good one :tu: If you want to do like Zoid said and start a thread for then or take part in the anniversary thread or even do both :tu: 2 months in a row wouldn't be so bad with a Vic MT ;) :D If we get some participants involed for next month then I am sure we can get a badge made :tu:

Consider the challenge Hosted 60 days,  and come on Poncho no one said you can't add a second tool.  Just need to give propper respect to the KING.

We'll start with a 2'fer.  The base is Gerleatherberman's new Tool, while the right side is the one that never leaves my side.

Who's up next?

I love the Swisstool, but it's so heavy.  I don't think I could carry it every day.

It is heavy tool, definatly heavy for pocket carry.  It lends it's self to belt carry well.  I'm lost with out it because it will do things no other tool can stand up to, so this is an easy one for me.  The real chalenge would be for me to go more than a few hours of sleep with out it.  Even then its on the stand next to the bed, just in case there's a break in and I run out of ammo.   :D

Exactly, and I don't sheath carry, so I can't pocket carry it daily.  It's tolerable in some pants, but not all that I have to wear, so I couldn't pull off a 30 day challenge.  I really do like it though.  I really dig the design.

I just now saw this thread. :ahhh
I have had it on my belt since Monday after I got over a cold.
So how does this challenge work? You carry 30 days and take a photo? I started late then, if I can join.

I put off changing the magnetic top catch on my doggie(baby gate on hinges) door. Did that with the swisstool just now hoping to enter the challenge!

Douglas, I'm in for 30 days carrying it in a row! But, at some point after, I will need to give my other daily users a workout. :multi:

Oh, the spirit will need to be "tested" for "authenticity " at some point as well.  :D
I may end up carrying two vic MTs for weeks.
I ordered a pouch for the spirit on amazon this morning before work. So it will get belt time too.
No prob though, I carried a LM surge for a while last year. :multi:

There is already a 30 day chalange with the Spirit for a merit badge but there is not yet one for the SwissTool.  The merit badge 30 day chalange usualy consists of starting a new thread showing picks of the tool you carry for 30 days.  I started this one in hopes the Boss and Modorators would see fit to create a new merit badge for those of us who are Die Hard SwissTool fans.  Due to this month being MTO's 11th Aniversery  and the Any Thing Goes Chalange  :2tu: several people have decided to join in during August.  I guess there are a lot of light weights  :pok: who can't handle two chalanges at one time, much less the weight of a real tool box. :surrender:

We also have a rule about 1 challenge at a time :pok: Well it is sorta flexible but it is better to do 1 at a time :tu: We have had a few overlap in the past but not 2 full on 30 days exactly at the same time :D

Removing table leg support braces for transport. Had to remove 16 with the swisstool. Kinda wished I had a power drill, but the MT made it through. Hand is hurting.  :ahhh

If I had to change one thing on the swisstool, I would have produced it with double side ground flat driver heads instead of high polished ones.
I may get a hair and do this myself. I just dislike modifying nice MTs.
I may just leave it be. It is rare I encounter do many fasteners. Maybe once a month or so. Most tables would have been 6 screws.

Doug. By next month, we'll be ahead of the herd with nonstop swisstool carry by weeks. They'll have to give us challenge  badges early.

So poncho, will carrying now everyday qualify as time in August? :gimme:
