My new purchase
on: October 17, 2008, 12:17:28 PM
It's my Birthday at the end of the month and my wife has just let me loose to buy a new knife.  So it took me all of 5 minutes to decide on getting a Swisschamp.  :D This will be the biggest SAK I own by far and I don't think I am planning on EDCing it but the tool selection will be very handy around the house.

Nice thought but I'm working on my own Mods just now.  I'm not even playing in the same league as Scibeer though.

I used to keep one in my briefcase , they aren't too bad to EDC , just use a dummy cord , that way hangs from your belt , an doesn't rest in the pocket.

Is she buying it or are you?  I always wondered about this because:

1)  If I buy it, I can probably find the best deal and make really sure I get exactly the model I want, no mistakes, etc... but...
2)  I rob her of the chance to buy a birthday present for me and present it to me which is important to her and to our relationship dynamic (after all, I'm not single anymore running around buying stuff for myself) and...
3)  If I buy myself a gift, its a bit selfish and it just isn't quite as sweet.

What do you think?

She's paying for it, but I picked it out and found a good deal for it.  I suspect that She will also get me a small token gift as a surprise.

She doesn't know about the Alox Cadet that I ordered as a birthday treat to myself.   :-[ (it is second hand and it didn't cost much, honest).

What I've found out the hard way is that most girls get the wrong item and usually overpay unless they do their research and find out exactly what you like/want from one of your good friends. Speaking of friends very few get the gift you would like and enjoy. My personal strategy is that if I wouldn't want the item for my self then I can't give it as a gift.

LOL as my current EDC is a Waiter or an Alumnus there is a bit of a jump in size. :o  I have tried and failed to pocket carry my Huntsman before but it does sometimes get some carry in my messenger bag.  Perhaps the Swisschamp will get the same role.

Use a belt hanger like I do, and you'll never notice the size/weight :)

:sak:
That would be my first choice also
Why do I carry a 45 ?
Because they don't make a 46 !

My Swiss Champ arrived yesterday and I picked it up from the post office this morning.  It is BIG!  Lots of shiny new tools to play with.  It is going to stay with me for the next while and see if I can get used to EDCing it.  I was right in that it is far to large to pocket carry but Neil has provided the answer to that.
I am a very happy man.  :D
