Reactor Mods/Enhancements?
on: July 03, 2017, 08:06:04 PM
I was excited about the Reactor... exact right mix of features and size for my EDC needs... my Powerlock doesn't go in every situation, but this could.  Unfortunately, when I got my hands on one, I saw the same problems that have been covered in reviews: tons of blade play verging on dangerous, sloppy grip on the driver bit.

Has anyone modified or improved their Reactor to make it better?

I don't think Harley has access to the right materials anymore ....

I think some members did that by trading their reactors with Skeletools.

I despise the Skeletool, yet I can see the logic to Kampfer's statement.

I think there are a couple or three members who hold more affection towards the Reactor. Hopefully they'll be along soon so that not all the suggestions for improvement will revolve around disposal

I am a confirmed Reactor lover (carried it today, in fact). I have made a few key improvements that, while pricey, have completely changed the effectiveness of this clever little pocket tool from SOG. First, i  replaced the liner-lock with a custom molecular electro-titanium plated bolt lock. Also, i deleted the magnets in the pliers head for anti-gravity stones from Uranus - they hold very firmly but don't smell very good. Finally, the safety tab that secures blade deployment got switched out for a composite selector switch from an M41A pulse rifle (the type that fires 10mm caseless ammo).

Just kidding, of course... You can't improve upon perfection. :salute:

Even had me going for second there.

I'm also in with rdub on this one. I got a Reactor last year and for what it is designed for, it does the job. Its lightweight and compact size is what I'm most impressed with. If I need to do a big job, I have other  tools for that. All in all I've been happy with it
