Hi Five,Welcome to the forums. Yes that is the correct scales... Only 91mm models have the plus scales... and the explorer is 91mm...Warm the scales a bit to avoid damage during removal... this can be done by heating with hair dryer for about a minute or two. Or you could soak them in warm water... for putting them on, I leave them in the vice for about a minute to ensure proper fit...Hopefully some members here would have spares to sell... I'm going to order some 91mm Ruby translucent Plus scales for my Explorer. Before I pull the trigger on the "Bay," does anyone in this group sell them?If not, can you confirm these are the correct scales for the Explorer? http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SWISS-ARMY-VICTORINOX-91mm-RUBY-PLUS-SCALES-W-TOOTHPICK-TWEEZER-FREE-SHIP/381613996622?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D41375%26meid%3Dac055c1e29a14ffcb88a517df61dc98a%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D391482311089 I know there are YouTube videos demonstrating how to take off the factory scales and then apply the new ones- is it that easy? Is a vice required to make sure the new ones are on properly? Also, where is the best place to order the pen that fits into the 91mm scales? Directly from Victorinox USA?

Guys who sell new scales do exaggerate on the price they ask sometimes...Maybe i'm spoiled, but i buy mine directly at the Vic rep and importer over here for about €1 per scale (€2 a pair, front and back), at least the classic red 84 and 91mm ones. The translucent plus ones are maybe a tad more expensive, but just a tad not 5 times more...

Can be my supplier No problem mate I do have to go there eventually in a near future as i have a Super Tinker that went to Vic for repairs to pick up, and i always take the chance when ever i go there to buy scales, T&T's, micro SD's and misc parts.Tell me what you need and i'll see if i can get it next time i go there Of course i never buy large amounts as they are Vic's Rep and importer over here, so they don't sell to the general public only to stores, the only exception they make is on part's so i never push it too far when i buy there. The last time i bought 10 pairs of 91mm scales (among other stuff) and they gave me a word of notice that they can't really sell in those amount's often....

Once I install my ruby translucent on my Explorer, I may consider going green translucent on my BSA Huntsman. I never intended to buy it for the BSA logo (which I do actually like) but I ordered it before I knew the Fieldmaster was the same model (and about $15 cheaper). I just like the translucent look. So, green- or blue- for the Huntsman? Or some other cool translucent I don't even know about?
Need to track some of those colors down
